Tell the AR State Plant Board to Further Restrict Dicamba Use

 Audubon Arkansas  Phone: (479) 444-3476      https://ar.audubon.org/

Please tell the AR State Plant Board to Further Restrict Dicamba Use. The Arkansas State Plant Board's latest proposed rule still allows dicamba spraying through May 25. A 30-day comment period is now open until Nov. 30, followed by a public hearing on Dec. 11 (mark your calendar).

Audubon will collect your comments through Nov. 26 then submit them to the Plant Board on Nov. 27 when they will become part of the public record.

There are lots of ways to get involved in our conservation work. Audubon's on the ground programs are the cornerstone of our ability to protect birds in Arkansas and across the Mississippi Flyway - but we can't do it without your help! The Arkansas State Plant Board's latest proposed rule still allows dicamba spraying through May 25. A 30-day comment period is now open until Nov. 30, followed by a public hearing on Dec. 11 (mark your calendar).

Presidential Library to Celebrate "Like  It's 1999!"

Clinton Presidential Library 1200 President Clinton Ave. Little Rock, AR 72201 (501) 374-4242

The Clinton Presidential Library is bringing back the decade that brought us blockbuster movies, must-see television shows, genre-changing music, iconic fashion, collectible toys, and the rise of PCs and the World Wide Web.

This exhibit will feature an exciting and diverse display – from props and scripts to fashion and tech – that, together, will tell the story of popular culture in the United States at the end of the 20th century. You won’t want to miss Rose’s dress and Jack’s drawing portfolio from Titanic, scripts from The West Wing, one of Garth Brooks’ Stetson Cowboys hats, and, of course, a collection of Beanie Babies that were sent to the Clinton family during the White House years. you’ll definitely want to bring all your “Friends” for a special “perk”-y photo op!

Throughout the exhibit, you’ll have the opportunity to play a variety of interactive games that focus on the era, including ’90s trivia, Pogs, a giant crossword puzzle with ’90s clues, and a ’90s-style video game!

To celebrate President Clinton’s birthday, admission to the museum will be free on August 19, 2017. We hope to see you there. https://www.clintonlibrary.gov/

Friends of the Little Rock Animal Village

Little Rock Animal Village  4500 Kramer St      Little Rock, AR 72204

Not every animal that is available for adoption from the Little Rock Animal Village is posted online. For example, puppies and kittens are rarely listed because they get adopted so quickly, but the Village always has them! In other words, there are a lot more animals at LRAV in need of homes than you see listed.

If you are looking for a lost pet, we strongly encourage you to visit the Animal Village in person to look for them. Pets are only posted online once they are available for adoption, which occurs after their seven day "stray hold" has ended. And again, not all pets currently at LRAV are listed.Ph: (501) 376-3067  Open Tuesday - Saturday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.  Save a Life,  Visit

Spay Neuter  We host low cost spay/neuter clinics each week, open to qualifying low-income clients with no residency restrictions and no maximum number of animals per household (for information about vaccines and microchips only, not spay and neuter surgeries, please click here). As we continue to provide citizens with as many days of service as possible, we host various veterinarians who have graciously agreed to share their time and talent in our building.

(Horse Therapy included)
Caring Canine: Animal Assisted Play Therapy
60 E Township, Suite 9           Fayetteville, Arkansas 72703    (479) 668-3816

Theresa Driver is a Licensed Professional Therapist and a Registered Play Therapist. "I have specialized training using dogs and horses in my therapy sessions. When young children have problems, they aren't yet emotionally equipped to sit down and tell you or a therapist what is bothering them, but they can tell a trained therapist what is wrong through their play. In a play therapy room, equipped with specific toys and designed to make a child feel safe and secure, many feelings can be expressed through play.

Animal Assisted Play Therapy is a unique type of therapy combining Play Therapy and Animal Assisted Therapy. In certain situations, using a dog in a therapy session can assist a child in feeling more relaxed and comfortable. - (479) 668-3816

Arkansas Paws in Prison

Arkansas Department of Correction                        Pine Bluff, AR 71611

Paws in Prison is a unique program, which is made possible through the Arkansas Department of Correction’s partnerships with animal shelters and advocate groups in the state. Selected offenders have the opportunity to become trainers to rescue dogs in the program. Inmates work with the dogs teaching them basic obedience skills and properly socializing the animals, making them more adoptable. Once the dogs have successfully completed the program they can go live in their new forever homes. Last year in Arkansas, hundreds homeless dogs were sadly euthanized.

Paws in Prison hopes to reduce the number by providing loving, obedient, adoptable pets. The benefits of this program are three-fold. Paws in Prison will give inmates the skills necessary to support successful rehabilitation and reentry – and ultimately improve public safety. At the same time, this is an opportunity for the inmates to make a posive impact on Arkansas. In states where similar programs operate, they have had a profound impact on inmates and staff, thus improving security.  Visit  http://adc.arkansas.gov/available-dogs

Out of the Woods Rescue

Out Of The Woods Animal Rescue of Arkansas - PO Box 7365 - Little Rock, AR 72217          [email protected]

A nonprofit pet adoption and pet rescue, Out of the Woods Animal Rescue of Arkansas is dedicated to preserving the happiness and sanctity of animals. Committing ourselves and resources to finding forever homes for the pets that come our way, we connect loving people with loving pets.  http://ootwrescue.org/adoption.html

Hours  Monday-Saturday 11:00a - 6:00p  Sunday 11:00a - 5:30p Mission -We, at Out Of The Woods, believe that all domesticated animals regardless of their size, breed or color deserve to have a loving home. Our mission is to help abused and homeless animals in situations where no other help is available to them.  http://www.ootwrescue.org/    http://www.adoptapet.com/shelter73212-pets.html

We operate solely on private donations and volunteer efforts. OOTW is a ‘virtual’ animal rescue, meaning we do not have a brick and mortar pet shelter. Instead, we are a network of volunteers, who allow our rescued dogs and cats to live with us in foster care until they are adopted. Operating a virtual shelter allows us to put all of our adoption fees and received donations toward the care of the dogs and cats we rescue. Call to set up appt to meet pets.

Watchable Wildlife in the Arkansas Outdoors

STATE PARKS, ARKANSAS DEPT. OF PARKS AND TOURISM
1 Capitol Mall - Little Rock, Arkansas 72201 1-888-287-2757

Looking for Arkansas wildlife? The diversity of Arkansas's six natural divisions provides thousands of acres of habitat for wild animals. Plus, Arkansas is on the famed Mississippi River Flyway and is a favorite stop for migrating butterflies, songbirds, ducks and geese that fly through Arkansas by the millions each fall and spring. Arkansas is also on the edge of the eastern forest and the western plains and many migrants and strays — from birds to butterflies — find their way here.

Twenty-five Arkansas state parks have been selected for inclusion in the Watchable Wildlife program, implemented on a state level by the Ark. Game and Fish Commission (AGFC). This national program identifies locations where outstanding outdoor habitats or migration qualities attract Arkansas wildlife and offer you the best chance of viewing wildlife, large and small, in the Arkansas outdoors.

Many state parks have Arkansas wildlife, birding and butterfly checklists to assist you in finding the best locations and knowing what to look for when you get there. Go to our "park Brochures" page to see available park brochures or scroll to the bottom of each state park webpage to find brochures in downloadable PDF format. If not, the park may have a paper copy of Arkansas watchable wildlife guides, trail maps and other resources at the Arkansas State Park visitor center that you can use to plan your outing.  https://www.arkansasstateparks.com/things-to-do/wildlife/

At the Humane Society of Garland County, we cherish our animal companions for their unconditional affection and acceptance. We act out of a sense of social responsibility to nurture and find good homes for abandoned and abused animals, because, unfortunately, some pet owners mistreat their animals or leave them altogether. That’s where our work is most valuable.

We are dedicated to rescue the strays, to educate and advise on spay – neuter programs. We do not have a shelter so we rely on foster homes to keep the animals  until they can get their forever homes. ( We always need more foster homes! ) The more homes we have the more animals we can rescue. All stray animals are seen by a veterinarian, medically evaluated, treated, get their vaccinations and spayed/ neutered. We are a 501(C ) org & rely solely on donations.

Relieve a shelter dog's stress by taking them out of their kennels for the weekend! Many families that join us for our weekend getaway program, tend to either adopt their weekend friend, or send them back in with much needed information that can help us make better matches for our potential adopters and for our shelter animals.

Wow-5 out of 7 dogs that attend the Weekend Getaway are adopted out that same week. Please allow our dogs to enjoy some cuddle time, play time, and some couch potato time with your family for a weekend. http://www.sebastiancountyhumanesociety.org/events

A Prayer for the Animals
~An Official Arkansas Week for the Animals event~

Join  those of us who would like to observe a moment of prayer and/or moment of meditation for the precious animals. We are requesting this, if possible, from 5-6 pm Central time Sunday. This is a multi-faith observance.

We can offer prayers, poems and memorials to our animal, pet or all animals wherever we are and even light a candle by doing so.Wherever you are, if you can observe a moment for the animals who need us...that collective energy will surely grow and bring light to our cause to love, assist and help them from any and all suffering.
